What is Mental Fitness

What is Mental Fitness?

Mental fitness means having the tools and resilience required to maintain a state of positive mental health, even when facing challenges or difficulties as defined by the  Calm app. Mental fitness encompasses a broad range of practices, habits, and thought patterns that contribute to your overall psychological well being. Encouraging others to be proactive in caring for their own mental health, improving cognitive function, and enhancing your ability to bounce back from setbacks.

What is “Mental Fitness” to me?

I’ve learned that mental fitness isn’t just a buzzword – it’s my daily toolkit for staying emotionally strong, especially when life throws curve balls my way. Mental fitness to me means actively choosing to be resilient instead of reactive when facing challenges in my daily life. Think of it like a mental gym membership. Just as I strengthen my body through exercise, I build my mind through consistent habits and thought patterns that keep me psychologically fit. What I love most about this approach is how proactive it feels. Instead of waiting for stress or anxiety to hit, I’m actively working on my mental game, sharpening my thinking, and building my bounce-back muscles. Every morning when I wake up, I choose to train my mind just like I’d train any other muscle, and honestly? It’s changing everything about how I handle life’s challenges.

Why name my coaching business: Mental Fitness Today?

Truthfully that name came to me years ago when I started an Instagram account in the early days of the pandemic. I was feeling so disconnected from my daily life. I wanted to share the methods I was using to combat the anxiety and depression that was overwhelming me.

The intent was to be a “place” for me to be vulnerable in sharing how I struggle daily and how I cope to move through the emotions with an attitude that I am worthy of this work. Mental Fitness Today is a practice, an effort that I make daily to ask myself forward thinking questions, so that I can live the life that I want to create with my actions and thoughts.

I kept the name because I think that phrase still applies to the work that I plan to do as I navigate connecting with creatives that are ready to grow their talents and craft to create the art and life they want to share in the world.
